Stephen Colbert brought up an important question to Daniel Radcliffe: Would Harry Potter be a great example for quarantining and how to cope since he did so for 11 years?

When it comes to Harry Potter as a character, no one knows him better than Daniel Radcliffe. Probably because he spent years playing him but still, the point stands, he knows Harry and he knows him well.

So when Daniel Radcliffe went onto Stephen Colbert’s new solution for not being able to go into the studio for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert called “Stephen At Home”, the two talked about what the Boy Who Lived would be doing. Or more like why we should be looking to the boy who lived for guidance during this trying time.

Colbert pointed out that Harry could be a role model for children. Saying:

"“Do you think that Harry Potter himself might be a good model for people who are having to sequester because, I don’t have to tell you, he spent 11 years — you’ve done 11 days — he spent 11 years living in a cupboard.”"

Which…he’s not wrong. Harry was technically just stuck in his aunt and uncle’s house for 11 years with the exception of doing what they wanted and going to school so he’d, at least, be able to handle it all.

To which Radcliffe responded with “Yeah. Right! And I mean, that’s very much the part of the books that I feel like we wanted people to aspire to. I think that’s really the message of the books that I remember is ‘isolate yourself and wash your hands.’” All in good fun, clearly.
