Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness to pen Ant-Man 3

Jeff Loveness, writer and co-producer for Rick and Morty, has been chosen to write the script for Marvel’s Ant-Man 3.

Although Hollywood seems to be at a standstill with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis underway, that hasn’t stopped studios from making exciting announcements about their upcoming projects. And Marvel is the latest to do so, revealing that Jeff Loveness, writer and co-producer on the popular animated series Rick and Morty, will be penning the script for the third Ant-Man film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal was closed as things in Hollywood began to shut down, and Loveness is already working on the script. Ant-Man 3 hasn’t been given an official date from Marvel Studios just yet, so the timeline remains unclear, but it’s probably safe to assume we won’t be seeing much about the project for quite some time.

Peyton Reed is returning to direct the third installment, and stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are expected to reprise their roles as Ant-Man and The Wasp, respectively. Apart from that, little is known about the third movie just yet — except that fans have plenty of other Marvel films and sequels to get through before it will arrive.

Given his work on Rick and Morty, Loveness is no stranger to writing comedy, and his appointment has been met with excitement and confidence from fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s not to mention that Loveness has some experience writing comics, including stories about fan-favorite characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Groot.

All in all, Loveness seems like a solid choice for Ant-Man 3, and we’re excited to see what he brings to the table. We’ll all need a good laugh after everything going on this year, and films like Ant-Man 3 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 are sure to deliver on that.
