Clique Bait – Ann Valett

Clique Bait, the frothy debut novel from author Ann Valett, feels like the guilty pleasure escape we all probably need this month.  A Pretty Little Liars-esque story of secrets and revenge, it follows the story of Chloe Whittaker, a teen out to get revenge when her BFF’s life is ruined by the most popular kids at their school.

Determined to take the group down from the inside, Chloe remakes her whole life. Dramatically changing her look and carefully curating her social media to erase any trace of her old self, she rapidly goes from zero to one of the most influential girls in their social circle. Now officially in with the in-crowd, Chloe’s plan is to dig up all their darkest, most embarrassing secrets – and post them for all the world to see.

Or at least, she was. But even the best laid plans have flaws. And Chloe didn’t factor in what would happen if she started having feelings for one of her enemies.

The official synopsis has a few more details.

"Chloe Whittaker is out for revenge. Last year her best friend Monica’s life was unceremoniously ruined by the most popular students at their high school, so this year Chloe plans to take each and every one of them down. She traded her jeans and T-shirts for the latest designer clothes, deleted everything on social media that would tie her to Monica (and blow her cover), and carefully devised a way to befriend the members of the popular clique. Now all that’s left to do is uncover their deepest, darkest secrets and reveal them to the world. Chloe has the perfect plan…that is, until she begins to fall for one of the people she’s determined to destroy."

Clique Bait is available on April 28.
