Crookshanks is the real MVP of the Harry Potter series
Hermione Granger’s pet cat Crookshanks is honestly of the best characters in the Harry Potter series and it is time that we all give him his due and praise the cat.
Crookshanks was the cat that many of us probably hated when we first met him. He would torment Scabbers, would always cause a ruckus, and was the kind of pet that Professor McGonagall would probably yell at. But then Crookshanks became the only one who really knew what was going on with Scabbers and, let’s be honest, other than Hedwig, Crookshanks was maybe the best.
Scabbers was constantly run after by him because, I think, that he knew who Scabbers really was. Sure, cats and rats don’t really get along but maybe Crookshanks knew something that no one else did. Which is why he is the MVP of the Harry Potter series.
He’s the kind of pet who knew something was up and did not really stop pushing Scabbers. While Hedwig is my favorite pet (and maybe my favorite character overall), she didn’t really care about either of them. She cared more about taking care of Harry above all else (as she should) but there was just something about Crookshanks that refused to stop pushing Scabbers.
So maybe if Ron and Hermione listened to him rather than Ron just yelling about his weird rat, they would have figured it out sooner rather than later. Maybe just listen to the cat who didn’t trust the rat and then Harry could have spent more time with Sirius Black because they would have caught Peter Pettigrew sooner.
