We had the perfect Sirius Black in Ben Barnes, why didn’t we use it?
Ben Barnes has frequently been fan-cast as Sirius Black and if we had a Marauders series, he’d be perfect so why haven’t we gotten what we wanted?
The Marauders have been the subject of many fan-casts, especially for those of us who are fans of Sirius Black. As one of those fans, I can remember looking through the tag and judging the choices for a young Marauders series because I wanted the best Sirius Black there could be.
But one actor always stuck out as the one I would take as Sirius: Ben Barnes. So…why did we not take advantage of that at the time? Or better yet, why do we still not take advantage of it? When it comes to the Marauders, there are so many fans who want to know more and we just…aren’t going to get it?
Part of our love comes from the fact that we don’t know that much about them. They were, unfortunately, just a blip in the story of Harry Potter as he fought against Voldemort. So now that we’re seeing other storylines from the wizarding world though, why can’t the next be a look into the Marauders and how they got to where we last saw them?
It still doesn’t make sense that we have Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them but not anything on James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, or Peter Pettigrew? It just seems like a waste of resources especially because this is something we’ve always wanted.
If it does happen though, I still think that Ben Barnes would be the perfect Sirius Black. He fits the description, he’s handsome, and he’s always been who people wanted so why not?
