He was a villain turned ally turned friend and that’s probably why Draco Malfoy became one of the most interesting characters in the entire Harry Potter series.

Draco Malfoy started off being a villain. He looked at Harry Potter, wanted to make his life a living hell, and almost succeeded in it. But then, as we’ve gotten to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it’s become clear that Draco is a lot more complicated than we all originally thought.

The kind of character who did whatever his father told him, Draco finally grew into a character who started to make a stand for himself and fight back. He, much to his own chagrin, was a lot like Harry Potter. The two were thrown into life with people who didn’t particularly care about them and had to find their own ways out.

Maybe that’s why so many people still love Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter to this day (often as a couple). They, while being “enemies”, were not that different from one another. Draco couldn’t escape his parents and, in a way, neither could Harry. But the two ended up doing what they needed to for the better and became the heroes they both wanted to be.

So Draco, while originally a brat kid who would cry to his father about anything that went wrong in his life, became one of the most interesting characters all because he looked at his life and his situation and found a way out. He took a stand and that’s something that is incredible about his character.
