The Music

Nuances of each country were included in the opening credits of Sense8, set to the sound of a moving instrumental piece composed by Johnny Klimeck and Tom Tykwer. As a result, the series earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music in 2016.

The Sense8 soundtrack also showcased compilations of regional music central to the characters’ homeland. International artists such as Fatboy Slim, Macy Gray, Avicii, Steve Aoki, Just a Band, and Marius Furche have music featured throughout the series.

During one of the main cast’s first group psychic experiences, each one sings along to 4 Non Blondes’ alt-rock classic “What’s Up?,” becoming an anthem of sorts for the show and it’s devoted fanbase. A video playlist is available here.
