Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas is launching a new series with House of Earth and Blood, the first book in her Crescent City series. Maas’ lead this go around is a half-Fae, half-human named Bryce Quinlan. Bryce works hard and plays harder. Her life is perfect until her best friends are murdered by a demon.

When the wrong person is jailed for the crime, Bryce launches herself into the investigation. She refuses to let her friends go unavenged and enlists the assistance of Hunt Athalar, a Fallen angel.

To Hunt, Bryce’s mission is a means to freedom. If they succeed in stopping the demon, then his enslavement under the Archangels he tried to overthrow is void. He no longer has to act as their assassin killing their enemies. But as the pair dig deeper into the case, they are led into the underbelly of Crescent City, where they discover a dark power.

The power is a threat to everyone, but it’s not the only thing they’re concerned about outside of the case. Bryce and Hunt have the kind of chemistry that’ll set fire to everything around them. But it’s not a killing fire, it’s a freeing one, and that’s something they’d know if they just let themselves burn.

House of Earth and Blood is available now in print and e-format.
