The Gleesons and how Harry Potter is honestly a family affair for the actors

While the Harry Potter series has a whole series of incredible actors, it also is a family affair because both Domhnall Gleeson and Brendan Gleeson brought characters to life.

Brendan Gleeson helped bring to life one of the best characters in the Harry Potter series. Many of us have loved Mad-Eye Moody since we were kids but, did you know, that Bill Weasley is related to Mad-Eye Moody?

Well, not in the Harry Potter world but in ours. Domnhall Gleeson, who plays Bill and has since gone on to star in the Star Wars franchise as General Hux, is Brendan Gleeson’s son! That’s right, A Weasley is related to Mad-Eye himself!

While this isn’t exactly huge news, it’s just a fun little insight into the Harry Potter series as a whole and how everything is kind of connected to each other still. Most of the actors were young or related because their characters were supposed to be twins (looking at you, Oliver and James Phelps) but the fact that Bill Weasley and Mad-Eye Moody are related in real life? It’s weirdly delightful.

Maybe it’s because so many of us didn’t know they were related when we were first watching the series but found out later or maybe it was something entirely different. Whatever it is, it’s just fun that Brendan Gleeson and Domhnall Gleeson got to work together on the Harry Potter series.

Wish there were other secret relatives in the Harry Potter series? Who knows, maybe we’ll find out someone was a cousin to someone else.
