The real fear of Voldemort that exists in Harry Potter fans even now
Harry Potter has instilled in us a great many things but one of those things is a fear of Voldemort that, unfortunately, does not go away. Case in point: Cursed Child.
**Spoilers for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child lie within**
When you’re watching or reading the Harry Potter series, one thing is important to remember: Voldemort is absolutely terrifying. And what’s even more frightening is that that fear doesn’t go away.
While kids, we knew to fear him, new to be afraid, but now as adults, it’s a very similar feeling. When you see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, there is a moment when Voldemort comes onto stage, walking off to complete the cycle of Harry Potter’s life. The problem? There is a fear, for a brief moment, that Voldemort is going to somehow end up near you.
Sure, it’s a play and nothing can really happen but that fear, that hatred still hasn’t gone away because, for so long, we were tormented by that fear. Tom Marvolo Riddle only cared about his own beliefs, his own success, and was willing to murder anyone in this path.
His evil is the kind that many of our generation has learned to oppose so, of course, we’re still wary of Voldemort even now, as adults, even though we know he can’t hurt us. It’s a fear so rooted in us and I hope it never goes away because it’s that fear that will keep us going and fighting against the evils of the world.
Voldemort may be fictional but there are those like him who are willing to destroy lives for their own benefit.
