Everyone has the Harry Potter book that meant the most to them as they were reading the series for the first time and, for me, it was Order of the Phoenix.

While we each have our favorite book in the Harry Potter series, it’s important to note why they are favorites. For me personally, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has always been my own personal choice because of my connection to Sirius Black.

Unpacking the death of my own grandmother played a major part in how I viewed Order of the Phoenix and, more importantly, the character of Sirius Black. I just think back on what that book meant to me at the time, how it ended up helping me through something and I couldn’t help but love it the most.

Which brings up the important question: Does our favorite book mean it’s the best? Absolutely not. I know for a fact that there are better books within the Harry Potter series but with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix gets so many balls rolling to further the rest of the series and that’s what makes it important outside of having a special significance to me.

At the end of the day though, what matters is that we love these books and we love our favorites for ourselves, not what someone else has to say about the series. So if your favorite isn’t Order of the Phoenix then that’s totally fine because it’s all about our own choices.
