Travel Tuesday: Favorite Disney character meet and greets
While a visit to Disney Parks is always magical, Disney character meet and greets bring memories that last for a lifetime. Which Disney characters are your must meets?
From princess to Mickey, Disney character meet and greets are part of the Disney experience. Throughout Disney Parks guests have the opportunity to get a picture or even an autograph from their favorite characters. As the Disney family continues to evolve, which Disney characters would be the ultimate meet and greet?
Although there is a universal love of all things Disney, certain characters connect with people. Whether it is the iconic characters like Mickey and Minnie or newer characters like Moana and Joy from Inside Out, characters are located throughout all the parks. Although special dining events offer more intimate experiences, the park meet and greets are amazing photo opportunities.
While the availability and locations change often, most Disney daily show guides will offer a list of where and when Disney characters will be meeting guests. It is the perfect chance to get a hug, a high five and pose for the perfect photo memento.
With so many Disney character meet and greet opportunities, it can be hard to pick a favorite. Recently, there has been some speculation that there will be a Baby Yoda meet and greet coming to Disney. Although not confirmed, the idea of an animatronic Baby Yoda would have people lining up for the chance to capture that moment. Given the excitement over the Baby Yoda toys revealed last week, a photo op with The Child would be too hard to turn down.
In some ways, this type of meet and greet would be similar to the Baby Groot and Star Lord meet and greet that was at Hollywood Studios. While Star Lord offered some fun comments and energetic posing, everyone couldn’t get enough of Baby Groot. It was one of the more popular character meet and greet opportunities.
Looking at the current Star Wars Launch Bay, where many of the Star Wars characters meet and greets are located, this area is often a must stop for the Star Wars fans. Although not immersive like Galaxy’s Edge, the Kylo Ren experience is always entertaining. The character interaction is as fun as the compelling pictures.
For a more immersive photo, try to find Chewbacca in Galaxy’s Edge. That photo op shows just how tall Chewy really is. If you don’t feel dwarfed by him, you must be quite tall yourself.
While Star Wars fans have many opportunities to meet their favorite characters, some unique Disney character meet and greets are too good to pass over. Although villain characters are most abundant at the Villains after hours event, sometimes those characters do appear at Magic Kingdom. From Drizzella to Gaston, there are a variety of the darker side of Disney roaming around Magic Kingdom, sometimes.
At Magic Kingdom, the Princess Fairytale Hall is the best place to meet the most characters. In one queue, guests can meet Cinderella and Elena of Avalor and, in the other queue, meet Rapunzel and Tiana.
Although Magic Kingdom has many princesses, Epcot is home to one of the most popular meet and greets: Anna and Elsa from Frozen. Often the wait to see the uber popular Frozen characters can be long. Still, there is nothing better than getting a picture with the infamous sisters.
Sometimes at Epcot, the Muppet Mobile Lab also makes an appearance. While this item isn’t necessarily a character meet and greet, seeing Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker in person is quite fun. They often have a lot of interesting insights to share.
Lastly, Animal Kingdom has some classic characters and some intriguing ones. While you can snap a picture with Mickey and Minnie in their safari finest, other characters are a little more entertaining. From Doug and Russell to Scrooge McDuck in Dinoland, these characters are a little more non-traditional.
Still, some of the best character photo ops happen in Pandora. The Avatar interactions are larger than life. The AMP Suit character will make you stand in awe of the mobile research unit in real life.
Also, sometimes guests can spot a camouflage character in Animal Kingdom. DaVine looks like a gigantic vine come to life. Posing between her vines makes for the best photo.
These Disney character meet and greets are just a small sampling of the numerous characters wandering around Disney Parks. Some seasonal characters come and go. Characters can change locations. When you arrive at a Disney Park, remember to check the daily schedule to see who will be appearing and where.
At the same time, new Disney characters can be added. From Guardians of the Galaxy and Coco to potentially new Disney movies or Disney + characters, all the Disney Parks could be filled with characters throughout a visit. The magical memories are waiting for every guest.
What Disney character meet and greets would you want to have? Is there a Disney character that you wish that you could meet in person?
