Good Girls

Friends don’t let friends rob a grocery store to take care of their family…at least not alone.

Look, it’s hard out here for a mom. Beth, Ruby, and Annie from NBC’s Good Girls know this better than most. It’s why they turned to robbery only for it to blow up in their faces and leave them owing a crime boss named Rio.

Season 3 of the series premieres this Sunday, February 16 at 10 pm but there’s still time to catch up on the show. Good Girls is incredibly bingeable and the shenanigans these women get up to whilst trying to keep the appearance of regular moms on the block are hilarious. Their situations also pull on the heart strings.

Beth is a mother of four whose husband barely sees her. She feels like she wasted her potential letting him take the reins of their adult lives and it’s done nothing but leave them in more debt than she could believe one man could possibly rack up on his own. Committing crimes isn’t right, but it sure feels good to be in charge. Beth surprises even herself when it comes to the lengths she’ll go to in order to keep the power she’s gained.

Ruby’s daughter is sick. The medicine that could dramatically improve her quality of life costs $10,000 dollars a month. With two kids to raise and a roof to keep over their heads, Ruby and her husband, Stan, are doing what they can to make ends meet and it’s still not enough to keep up with their daughter’s needs. Not to mention Stan signs up for the police academy, so Ruby’s dealing with the stress of her life of crime and trying to hide it from her husband, the lawman. The tension, it’s peak, y’all!

As for Annie, she’s a single mom with a custody battle on her hands with her ex-husband whose put together life looks so much better than her chaotic one. She’s got a daughter who is gender non-conforming and is getting bullied for it, she’s working a minimum wage job with a manager whose specialty is workplace harassment, and it doesn’t help matters that her sister Beth always seemingly has it together. Annie just wants some stability and crime gives her that besides it’s kind of right up her alley for choices that are bound to blow back in her face in predictable and preventable ways.
