Love is in the air, so we have a round-up of this year’s cutest LGBTQ+ couples on television for you to obsess over.

Whether you’re happily coupled or bitterly single, Valentine’s Day has arrived. And even when there’s no holiday to celebrate, what’s not to love about a landmark year in queer representation on television?

With so many LGBTQ+ couples on television, it’s almost hard to pick a favorite pairing. These seven couples prove it’s fun to love love, no matter what your relationship status currently is.

Abby and Chris, Work in Progress

Abby and Chris’s relationship is the centerpiece of this phenomenal series about mental health and identity. When Abby, a self-identified, “fat dyke” with suicidal ideation meets Chris, a trans man nearly half her age, she begins to rethink everything she thought she knew about herself.

Theo Germaine, who is just begging to break out in a big way, shines as Chris, our newest Internet boyfriend, alongside creator and star Abby McEnany. We need more almonds!

Cheryl and Toni, Riverdale

As much craziness happens on Riverdale, one thing that holds steady is Cheryl Blossom’s undying love for her girlfriend, Toni. While Kevin and the other gay men of Riverdale may be unlucky in love, Cheryl and Toni’s sapphic romance is almost enough to keep us going.

Elena and Syd, One Day at a Time

Elena Alvarez’s coming out story, along with her feminist resistance to having a quinceanera, occupied much of the first season of One Day at a Time which is enough reason to love the series. But Elena’s sweet relationship with her non-binary friend, Syd, resonates with anyone who’s had a first love.

David and Patrick, Schitt’s Creek

Opposites attract–it’s a tale as old as time. But what makes David and Patrick so cute in particular are the qualities they bring out in each other. David allows Patrick to be his full self, while Patrick allows David to be vulnerable. In short, they’re simply the best.

Waverly and Nicole, Wynonna Earp

Wynonna Earp‘s baby sister is the shining heart of the Buffy-esque wild west drama and her relationship with Sheriff Nicole Haught is solidly humorous and heartfelt. The chemistry between the two is palpable; in a show full of big romances, Waverly and Nicole are hard to beat.

Nicholas and Alex, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay

A hallmark of Josh Thomas’s work, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay is grounded in a darkness and heart with heavy emotional truth that can’t be ignored. Because of this, Nicholas’s attraction and fear of his blossoming relationship with Alex is all the more tender and sweet to watch.

And watching Nicholas’s sisters, Matilda and Genevieve, find their way with Alex, too, makes the thoroughly modern family one of television’s most fun to watch.

Micah and Jose, The L Word: Generation Q

Micah and Jose’s relationship may be one of the first of its kind seen on television–an interracial relationship between a trans man and cis gay man. But beyond its relevance for representation, their relationship was achingly real and sweet.

While the season ended with a shocking cliffhanger, we know there’s bound to be more in store for them in season two.
