The tragic characters of Harry Potter: How they stay with us all these years later
There is something about the characters who met a tragic end that we think about more often than not and with Harry Potter, there are so many to choose from so why do we love them so?
The Harry Potter series has a beautiful catalog of wonderful characters who, unfortunately, met a tragic end. And what’s so interesting is that many of us have clung to those characters and named them as our favorites.
So now the question is: Why? What is it about these characters that have us so in love with them that we’ll put up with the pain that comes knowing their history? So many of us love Sirius Black or Remus Lupin or the Potters and when you think about it, they’re all these characters we know meet terrible ends.
The real question is should probably be what’s wrong with all of us that we want to cling to this characters but, more importantly, there’s a beauty to them that we cling to and that’s probably why we’re all still crying over a series that has ended.
There’s something beautiful about these characters because we know that their time is limited and we treasure them. Or maybe that’s just doing re-reading the series and when we first go through them, we love them and it’s just intensified once they’re gone.
Whatever the case may be, tragic characters capture our hearts because we know that they are important to the story and want to revisit them over and over again. Or maybe that’s what we tell ourselves after the fact.
