Red carpet season is in full effect. On this week’s Project Runway, the designers offer their take on a timeless classic: the tuxedo.
Some looks create a fashion moment. Project Runway is looking to create that moment, look, and impression that will make everyone take notice. Can these fashion designers find that new take on the tuxedo?
According to Bravo, this week’s episode, “Suit Yourself,” features the following:
"“This week’s challenge is all about turning a timeless classic on its head: the tuxedo. Inspired by recent fashion moments like their mentor Christian Siriano’s groundbreaking Oscar look for Billy Porter, the designers will each need to find their own way to take the tuxedo into the future with a mix of male, female, and non-binary models. A perfectly tailored suit is nearly impossible without help, so the designers get a surprise second set of hands to help out.”"
Before tackling the synopsis, the biggest issue left over from last week will be whether Christian saves Chelsey. Based on the Bravo videos and Christian’s comments, the possibility is available.
It was unclear when the last “save” could occur. After last week, there is no more immunity. Could that also mean that Christian cannot save a designer anymore? It doesn’t make sense to have a save at the end of the competition. That concept could be totally unfair and potentially impact the eventual winner.
As for the challenge itself, this week should be a huge moment. Sergio has experience with these types of looks. Given that scenario, it should be an opportunity for him to shine.
Other designers might struggle. Hopefully Victoria does something other than another asymmetrical look. Granted, she stays in her lane, but that lane is getting really crowded.
Brittany may not be well suited for this challenge. She often does more flowy looks. It will be interesting to see how she finds a way to complement her style to the challenge.
Lastly, Nancy has weathered many challenges. Although she might not be the most likely designer to be a runway force, it could be her opportunity to be bold. Can Nancy bring it this week?
