Black Widow returns to her former family in Super Bowl TV spot
The Black Widow Super Bowl TV spot shows Natasha returning to the family she had before the Avengers — along with a whole lot of action and explosions.
It’s hard to say which movie trailers were the most exciting during last night’s Super Bowl, but Black Widow’s is certainly one of the top contenders. One of the most anticipated films of the year — and one of the most long-awaited additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the movie will give fans insight into Natasha Romanoff’s life before she joined the Avengers team.
We’ve gotten snippets of information about Natasha’s brutal assassin training throughout the first three phases of the MCU, but her titular film will dive much more deeply into her history — and that starts with her return to her former family.
Yes, Natasha admits that the Avengers team wasn’t her first family in the new TV spot, emphasizing that her current comrades don’t know everything about her. To be fair, neither do the viewers (though it looks like we’re about to get schooled).

Following her comment about her previous family, viewers get a glimpse of the film’s other main characters: Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz‘s Melina Vostokoff, and David Harbour’s Red Guardian. The 30-second promo also shows off some seriously impressive dives on Natasha’s part and a number of explosions, suggesting fans are in for an action-packed movie come May.
We’ll probably see another trailer or two before the film arrives on May 1. But in the meantime, at least we’ve got short glimpses of the film to analyze. And from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like we won’t be disappointed when more footage materializes.
