Dolores Umbridge is coming to season 5 of the Crown and that means that my fear of Imelda Staunton is going to have to come to an end because I need to finish the series.

Imelda Staunton, who brought Dolores Umbridge to life, is coming to close out The Crown as Queen Elizabeth. While incredible, I’m a little bit afraid because, try as I might, I still have a fear of Staunton because of Umbridge.

For so many of us, watching Dolores Umbridge terrorize Hogwarts turned her into more of a villain than Voldemort. While Voldemort had his goal and his terrible reasoning, she seemed to just thrive in the idea of pain and that, to me, is almost scarier.

Unforunately, that means that Staunton constantly is Umbridge in my mind. I’ve seen her in other things and even loved her performances but somewhere in my mind, I just keep fearing her and what she’ll do to the characters on screen. So, I guess maybe that’s a good thing for The Crown? While we all know and love Queen Elizabeth, she is an intimidating woman even though she’s small.

So maybe having Imelda Staunton playing her will give us that final Queen Elizabeth that many of us have come to know. It’s sad the show is ending and even sadder that Staunton only gets one season as Queen Elizabeth but it’s going to be real interesting to see if I can get over my fear of Umbridge to enjoy her performance as Queen Elizabeth.
