The downfall of constantly associating Harry Potter actors with the series
While being in Harry Potter was probably an incredibly huge deal, it does have its downfalls. Like still being referred to as your character rather than anything else.
Harry Potter is a series that has given us so many incredible performers and, in doing so, means that we associate many of these actors with their roles. But is that a good thing or a bad thing? More often than not, we see someone from the series and instantly think of their character instead of the actual actor.
It took me years to learn Harry Melling’s name because he was just Dudley Dursley to me from the start. But there’s also a level of appreciation there that we all have and love because this series does mean a lot to us. So yes, it probably isn’t great that we often think “Wow there’s Harry Potter’ while watching a Daniel Radcliffe movie but it isn’t meant to be mean but rather just show where our love came from.
As each of these actors moves on and grows away from the Harry Potter franchise, we keep wanting to bring them back. Which is why it is kind of a Catch-22 situation. They might not want to eventually reprise these roles because their entire career was set around everyone bringing these movies up. So if we ever get a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie, maybe the cast won’t want to return. But then again, isn’t our love for them rooted in Potter? Will this endless cycle ever sort itself out?
