How did some of these professors even get a job at Hogwarts to begin with?
The professors at Hogwarts are either there to actually teacher or passing characters that mean nothing to the students so how did they all get their jobs in the first place?
Sometimes, I think about Hogwarts and wonder how some of the professors even got there. Trelawney, while a wonderful woman, was not a great teacher and neither was literally anyone other than Remus Lupin and Minera McGonagall.
So, how did everyone even get a job there? Was it just a system of “Well this is what I’m good at” and they handed you a teaching position without any other training? It’s an interesting thing to think about because, as far as we know, the students of Hogwarts left school and that was that until they went into their chosen field.
Maybe there is a teaching college everyone goes to if they want to be a professor but then again, after seeing how these professors actually work, if that is the case, the school isn’t that great. Still, it’s kind of concerning that these students basically have teachers who do not care other than to do magic every day or promote themselves (looking at you, Gilderoy Lockhart).
It goes back to the world building of the Harry Potter series. Do these professors even care about teaching or was there nothing else that caught their fancy while they were choosing what they wanted to do for the rest of the life and thus found themselves back at Hogwarts to teach the next generation of wizards and witches what they needed to know?
