Motherhood in the Harry Potter series is interesting and almost absent but Molly Weasley is a beautiful representation within the series anyway.

Molly Weasley is the kind of character that many flocked to because she was there for Harry and was willing to take him in as her own because that’s just the kind of person she was. But her role in the series as a whole is what makes her so unique.

With many of the older female characters being represented as professors at Hogwarts, there are very few female characters who are mothers in this series. Sure, even Bellatrix Lestrange and Hermione Granger eventually become mothers but in the main series, they’re not and we really only have Molly Weasley and Narcissa Malfoy to look towards.

While there are many questions as to why, I think the more important thing is that this series does show different kinds of mothers in one way or another. Narcissa tries even though she is misguided, Petunia isn’t a great mother in anyway but she does love her son, and then there is Molly who is, essentially, everyone’s mother.

Her role is to be there for anyone who needs her and while it can seem like a lot, there are figures like that in our lives and I think Molly Weasley is an important character to look to because so often, we just write those kinds of characters off but with Molly, we see her strength and her abilities and it is one of the reasons we love her so much.
