Daniel Craig is stepping away from James Bond. Many actors are throwing their hats into the ring, including Harry Potter’s Tom Felton.

We’ve been used to seeing Tom Felton play the bad guy. Well, okay, the school bully. Now we could have a chance to see him take on a lead protagonist. With Daniel Craig stepping away from the role of James Bond, the Harry Potter actor is officially throwing his hat in the ring for the role.

During an interview with Closer magazine via Lad Bible, Felton shared that from the age of seven, James Bond had always been a dream role. In fact, it’s the ultimate goal.

More from Harry Potter

There are plenty of people debating over who will get the role. Outlander fans are looking out for Sam Heughan taking on the role while Idris Elba is being named once more. Now it looks like Harry Potter fans have someone to support.

Like his on-screen father, Jason Isaacs, Felton doesn’t really look at whether his characters are good or bad. As an actor, the two have said that they like to play great roles. They want to be tested, they want to be excited, and they want to be intrigued. Most importantly, they want to feel like they’re getting to act, to develop their craft.

It’s probably unlikely that Felton will become the next James Bond. However, this doesn’t mean that he could never take on the role. Many actors take it on when they’re older, more mature. After all, Bond is a character who is wiser than your average Joe. So, there’s always hope in the future that we’ll get to see our school bully play the goodie.
