The Good Place season 4 episode 12 preview: Making new friends
The Good Place sends the Soul Squad to the Good Place. But what exactly can we expect from a place of which we’ve only seen the mail room?
The Good Place seemed to wrap everything up in last week’s episode, as the Soul Squad was able to take the new afterlife to the implementation phase. And then Michael summoned a solid gold hot air balloon to whisk them all away to the Good Place — for real this time!
Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Patty,” courtesy of NBC:
"“The group makes some new friends.”"
Well… that explains absolutely nothing. Who or what might Patty be? This episode has done so well with its guest stars, either casting perfectly or keeping them under wraps (looking at you, Timothy Olyphant).
So, if Patty is a person, who do we think it is? A big name like Bill Murray? Another Saturday Night Live alum? No, this show never really goes too over the top with its guest stars so as to not overtly overshadow the rest of the cast.
If Patty is a person and they wanted to make it a “big” name but keep it as casual and simple as can be, the one person I can think of to fill that role is Paul Rudd. I could see him melting into the role, very much like he did during his stint as Bobby Newport on Parks and Recreation. Which would fit with Mike Schur’s M.O.
Then again, Patty could very well be some sort of inanimate object. Like the ticket kiosk to get into the Good Place itself. Or an “upgraded” version of a Janet.
Who the heck knows? The show has three episodes — and two weeks — left to tie everything up and leave viewers and fans with a satisfying ending, which everyone involved has said it will make people happy.
And we all know that the real Good Place probably isn’t as “good” as everyone thinks it is.
