NBCUniversal announces Peacock streaming service pricing, launch date

NBCUniversal joins the streaming service fray by announcing their own, named Peacock, and will offer multiple tiers to choose from.
Earlier this week, Comcast’s NBCUniversal officially announced the details behind their upcoming streaming service, Peacock.
The service will reportedly be tied to cable subscriptions, setting it apart from other streaming services like Disney+ and DC Universe. However, Peacock plans to offer additional choices for consumers, ranging anywhere from a free, ad-supported version to a paid subscription with a much larger selection of content. Both options are said to include a classic selection of tv shows and movies, next day streaming of current series, Spanish-language content and a variety of news and sports programming.
Comcast customers will be eligible for a free paid subscription for a limited time, while non-cable subscribers will have to pay $5 per month for the ad-supported Peacock. The amount doubles to upgrade to the ads-free version of the service. Comcast customers will also have early access to the service as of April 15th, three months before Peacock is made widely available on July 15th.
Classic content is said to include all seasons of The Office, everything Law and Order, and movies such as Jurassic Park and Shrek.
However, NBCU will continue to share some content with it’s streaming partner Hulu, including 30 Rock and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The service will also offer early access to late night talk shows The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers.
Original programming features a new comedy produced by Tina Fey called Girls5Eva, a behind the scenes of Saturday Night Live program, a Battlestar Galactica reboot, and new revivals of classic sitcoms Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster.
