Doctor Who season 12 continues tonight as the Doctor and friends meet famous inventor Nikola Tesla. Here’s everything you need to know to watch online.
Timeless alum Goran Visnjic guests stars on Doctor Who this week, as Team TARDIS goes back to the early nineteeth century and meets one of history’s most famous inventors: Nikola Tesla.
Only, of course there are murdery shapeshifting aliens involved. Because, this is still Doctor Who after all.
Doctor Who tends to follow very specific formulas, not just in terms of the sorts of stories it tells, but often the order in which it tells them. Usually one of the first episodes of any new season involves a trip to the future or an alien planet. (“Orphan 55”: Check.) The next – this usually means third, but in this case is the fourth because we had a two-part premiere this year – almost always involves a trip to the past.
Which is good, because period stories are one of the things that the Chris Chibnall era of Who does really well. (“Demons of the Punjab,” “The Witchfinders” and “Rosa” were all season 11 standouts, IMO.)
Here’s hoping that “Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror” can live up to its period drama predecessors.
Of course, other than Tesla’s involvement – he’s heavily featured in the episode trailer and, well, his name’s in the title – we know precious little about what this story involves.
Per the official synopsis, something’s attacking one of Tesla’s inventions. But what, and why? And also maybe he’s getting messages from Mars. I don’t know, this episode sounds like it’s going to be real weird.
But hopefully in a fun way, and not an annoying one.
