The Good Place season 4 episode 10 preview: Can the afterlife be saved?
The Good Place returns for its final few episodes. Where did we leave things? And can the Soul Squad save the entire world and afterlife itself?
2020 has arrived, and with it comes the return of The Good Place. Which is both great and bittersweet.
We don’t have many episodes left of this show, and each one ticks down to the very last second of a show that was so inventive and subversive and just so doggone good.
Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “You’ve Changed, Man,” courtesy of NBC:
"“The group works to negotiate an afterlife plan with Sean and the judge.”"
The Good Place really does like its misleading synopses. This one sounds so nice and innocent, like everyone’s going to get along and figure out how to make this work.
But if you recall where we left off, we’re in a time crunch. The Janets have hidden the Judge’s world-ending button in their various voids, and Michael estimates we only have about 40 minutes to make a new plan for the world.
Which involves waking up Chidi, the most indecisive of the group. However, he’s back with all of his 800-reboots’ worth of memories and seems like he has a head on his shoulders for the first time in a long time.
Again, that means absolutely nothing to The Good Place. Sean’s not on their side and the Judge definitely is not on their side. But I’m sure Michael has a way to convince Sean that things would be better for the Bad Place if everything didn’t get rebooted.
Regardless, we only have a few episodes left until The Good Place takes its final bow. I’m interested to see how things get wrapped up in a neat little package. We have our own theories (which are now outdated), but if anyone can give us a satisfying ending, it’s Mike Schur.
