Revisiting work after the fact: Why Harry Potter is just as much of a problem
We went back to Star Wars, we went back to Star Trek, and we went back to Harry Potter. So why is revisiting the series with new work maybe not the best thing for the original series?
What we’ve learned recently is that going back to revisit things we once loved maybe isn’t the best thing. It seems to have worked out alright with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child but we have our problems with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it isn’t the only franchise that went for a second wind and ended up angering fans.
In fact, many are revisiting their favorite series again in the modern era and trying to bring back that magic and, is it worth it? If something isn’t great then doesn’t it leave tarnish on the rest of the franchise because you know what either happened before or after the original story?
There comes a problem when creatives try to come back to their work or fans take over that sometimes doesn’t work out for the better. That’s not to say it can’t, it’s just that it often tends to lead to heavily into the nostalgia of it all. Much like The Rise of Skywalker.
So the question now is more whether or not we should. Sometimes it is better to just love something and leave it as is whether then going back again and again and ruin the good thing we did have by giving us information about these worlds that we don’t need.
