Draco Malfoy went from a school bully to a man who wanted nothing more than to protect his son and throughout it all, he ended up with the most interesting arc in the Potter series.

Whether it was throughout the original Harry Potter series or in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Draco Malfoy went on quite a journey to making himself change from the blonde boy who was ready to take on Harry Potter at every turn versus the man who would do anything for his son.

Out of every character in the series, Draco went on question the lessons that his parents threw at him. He wanted to be better, be different than Lucius and Narcissa because he didn’t want to support Voldemort in the first place.

There are so many things about Draco that are left to us understanding that he isn’t the monster we thought he was when we were growing up. So many of us thought that Draco was just there to be Harry’s villain and, instead, he ended up changing the most and started to go on a journey to change himself for the better.

It’s a beautiful exploration of character and it is an interesting way of looking at how we view those we think are “evil” versus their ability to grow as characters and start to change for the better. Draco Malfoy is extremely interesting and continues to grow in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for the better and he’s brilliant.
