Christmas and the Harry Potter series: Why it means so much to the franchise
The Harry Potter series celebrates holidays differently throughout the series as a whole and Christmas is important to the franchise.
When it comes to Christmas, Harry Potter never really had it easy. Once he finally got to stay somewhere over the holidays, he at least didn’t have to worry about dealing with his aunt and uncle over Christmas.
But there were times when Harry spent them alone at Hogwarts but his first, where he spent the holiday with Ron, is one of the most important holidays in Harry Potter’s life. Mainly because it showed Harry the importance of his friends.
Ron eventually brought Harry home with him on breaks and he went to the Weasleys constantly but Christmas and the world of Harry Potter often lead to Harry making discoveries about those around him. His first Christmas at Hogwarts gave him the Invisibility cloak. Then, later on, it led to Arthur Weasley getting hurt in the Ministry of Magic.
He never really gets to have a great Christmas because his entire life is covered darkness because of his parents. They’re always a sadder part of his story but now, that he has his own family, I have to hope that it has turned around for Harry Potter.
There are so many things about his story that is sad but seeing Harry have to spend the holidays alone? That is almost too much to dive into and we just have to hope that now, he’s happy and can finally find some way of enjoying the holidays despite his past trauma and the lack of holidays he had.
