Episode 9: “Imbroglio”

The Duke of Windsor dies, and a funeral for him takes place at Buckingham Palace. After the funeral, Prince Charles goes back to Cambridge feeling like he took the place of the Duke of Windsor, the relative everyone was suspicious of and ready to watch mess up.

Prince Charles is still dating Camila, and he tells Lord Mountbatten, who is a father figure to him,  that he is in love with her. Mountbatten didn’t expect their relationship to be so serious. He teams up with Queen Elizabeth’s mother, and they hatch a plan to make sure Prince Charles and Camila didn’t see each other again.

Once Prince Charles learns about his new Navy post, which seems like an odd thing to receive at his lower experience level, he knows his family had something to do with it. He comes home to visit his mother, and they fight about the matter, but the Queen didn’t know about this. She sits down with her mother and Lord Mountbatten to figure out why they got involved in her son’s life, but once she realizes it’s about preserving the crown, she supports the plan they concocted.

With the help of her family, Camila is married to Andrew Parker-Bowles, right away. And Prince Charles is sent out to the Navy on a remote post. At the end of the episode, Prince Charles is in tears and heartbroken.

Amidst all of this, miners are protesting against the government. Instead of the government listening to the mineworkers, who refuse to work without being heard, power cuts are made.
