Did the Stranger Things writers just confirm the return of a fan favorite?
A Tweet from the Stranger Things writers just about confirms that Maya Hawke will return as fan-favorite Robin Buckley in the show’s fourth season.
Stranger Things season 4 has yet to enter production, so a lot is up in the air when it comes to the show’s future. But the series’ writers did potentially confirm the return of a fan-favorite character in a recent Tweet — and that’s enough for us to start getting excited for the next installment.
Robin Buckley made her first appearance on Stranger Things during the third season, but she quickly became a beloved character. Portrayed by Maya Hawke, Robin gave Steve his first true friend (well, his first true friend that’s actually his age) and gave viewers the series’ first openly LGBTQ+ character.
And it looks like Maya Hawke will be returning as Robin for season 4 — at least, if Twitter is anything to go by. The official Stranger Things account, @strangerwriters, Tweeted a response to a Q&A last week that suggests we’ll be seeing Robin again in the upcoming episodes.
Twitter user @Scoopy_ asked the writers to name their favorite Robin Buckley line — to which they replied that fans will have to wait for season 4 to find out.
While this is by no means an official confirmatin that Hawke will be returning as Robin, it certainly implies it. After all, Robin will have to be in season 4 if she’s delivering fantastic lines during it.
It seems we’ll have to wait to learn more about the upcoming season, but new details should emerge once production is fully underway. With any luck, we’ll have more insight into which characters are returning — and what they’ll be up to — early next year.
