Why is one of our favorite Thanksgiving movies a Harry Potter marathon?

Being an American fan of the Harry Potter series is an interesting thing because we tend to love the series on very American holidays. Like Thanksgiving for instance.

Growing up as an American who loves the Harry Potter series sure is interesting. Mainly because we tend to love watching the series when we are on breaks and, for many of us, those breaks are very American traditions.

Now, it is Thanksgiving and I suddenly want to watch the Potter series again, I wanted to explore why that is something that is interesting to me. What’s interesting is that those movies tended to come out towards the end of November, right around the American holiday of Thanksgiving, and that means that many of us go home and the first that we want to do is watch the series.

Is that strange? Probably but let’s unpack it for a little. When you think about the series, it isn’t just about the magic, it’s about the friendship. So the idea that we want to revisit that series when we’re supposed to be “thankful” for everything in our lives? It’s not that surprising.

So sure, the Harry Potter series doesn’t really have anything to do with the holiday but we love revisiting the messages of the Potter series when we’re with our family and our friends thinking about the holiday and having turkey or whatever else our hearts desire.

Go watch the series again or just remember the messages that it taught us. Either way, Harry Potter does have a very strange place in our love of Thanksgiving.

Next. Dobby is a free elf and we absolutely loved that for him. dark
