25. Home Alone

You might be wondering why one of the more iconic Christmas movies is coming in at number 25 on our list. And while I would be remiss if I left this movie off the list entirely, I admit to this one not being an absolute favorite.

Home Alone is definitely an enjoyable watch, with plenty of humor and even a sense of the craziness of the holidays. And sure I watch this movie every once in a while, but for me I always question how a parent can forget their child at home (even in the craziness of the season). Let’s not even go into the fact that there was a sequel where it happened again.

For me Home Alone is more of a comedy of errors than a feel-good Christmas movie. So, alas, this one is relegated to the back of the pack in this list of the best movies for the holiday season. (Honestly, if it wasn’t a favorite for so many, as well as one I have been known to watch more than once, it might have been left off the top 25 list.)

While I know plenty of people who love this movie and watch it on repeat, this is one of those films I could forget to watch and be okay with. And that is ultimately the reason that Home Alone comes in at 25, because even though it is a fun watch every few years, it’s not the ultimate expression of Christmas fun and joy I would hope for in my holiday movie watching experience.
