There have been various elements in the past, but the final season of Supernatural seems to have been inspired by Harry Potter the most.

Throughout the years of Supernatural and Harry Potter, you’ll notice similarities. However, the final season seems to have gained more inspiration from the Boys Wizard than previous seasons.

The Winchester brothers have a new foe. One bigger than they’ve ever faced before, but one that has always been in the background. It’s like Harry facing Voldemort. The villain was always there and always known, but Harry didn’t get to face off against him until the last movies/book.

But that’s not the only similarities. It turns out that one of the Winchester brothers has a psychic link to the villain. Remind you of someone? Harry had a psychic link to Voldemort.

Those psychic links were created under somewhat similar circumstances. In Harry Potter, Harry became a Horcrux when Voldemort tried to kill him. In Supernatural, Sam became a Horcrux gained his psychic link when he tried to kill God. This link gives both villains and heroes the chance to see what each other is doing, know their weaknesses and strengths, and much more.

Okay, so maybe the similarities are just coincidence. After all, this probably isn’t the first time that a psychic link between hero and villain has been created. There isn’t another that I can think of off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are plenty more. However, with some of the previous elements, it’s hard not to think that there’s a Harry Potter fan or two in the Supernatural writer’s room.
