Harry Potter fans immediately spot connection in His Dark Materials

Harry Potter fans watching His Dark Materials were quick to spot an actor they know. They were also quick to comment on changes.
Harry Potter fans love to see their favorite actors in other roles. The latest one is in His Dark Materials, as fans spot Harry Melling in the fourth episode of the series. However, this is more than just spotting a familiar face, but also about a familiar role and actor changes.
The first thing fans couldn’t help but notice was the weight loss Melling has experienced in recent years. He’s put his health first, coming a long way from the pudgy Dudley Dursley in Harry Potter. That’s all that seems to have changed, though.

In His Dark Materials, Melling plays Mr. Sysselmann, who happens to be part of the Magisterium. In the fantastical world created, the Magisterium resides in the home of the Catholic Church of today. Its job is to suppress news of any heretical discoveries, which pretty much means suppressing the news of magic.
We just knew Dudley Dursley would grow up to be someone against magic. He learned from his parents, and there’s no way they would have wanted him to support the idea of the magical world considering the fact they were forced out of their home when Harry turned 18.

UK fans were also quick to notice Melling in another show just an hour later. He appeared in the second episode of BBC One’s War of the Worlds. This time not connecting to the suppression of magic.
