The entire cast of NBC’s Days of Our Lives is taken off contract amid renewal negotiations, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting into the streaming market.
News broke last week that NBC’s Days of Our Lives had taken all of its cast members off contract, leading to speculation that the long-time soap favorite might be ending, with the series possibly going on hiatus at the end of November. While the series has yet to be officially canceled, it’s something fans have been dreading, especially since it’s one of the last remaining soap operas on daytime television. The series originally aired November 8, 1965, making it one of the longest-running productions in television history.
Ironically, it’s also been reported that the DOOL creative team is bringing back nine former characters to reunite for a digital series titled Last Blast Reunion. Characters such as Nadia Bjorlin’s Chloe Lane, Brandon Beemer’s Shawn Brady, and Martha Madison’s Belle Black will appear in the series. The series will be the first of its kind to premiere on The DOOL app.
Days of Our Lives is, of course, known for featuring some of the most popular power-couples in all of daytime television. Fan favorites include Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn), Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Williams (Kristian Alfonso), Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve “Patch” Johnson (Stephen Nichols), and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and EJ DiMera (James Scott). The series has been awarded over fifty-five Daytime Emmy Awards throughout the decades and remains one of the most celebrated soap operas in the world.
