The Good Place: Can Chidi help save the universe?
The Good Place ended its last episode leaving the Soul Squad with a bit of a time crunch. And their only hope is Chidi. But… is he up for the challenge?
We all know The Good Place and its cliffhangers. And its most recent episode was no exception.
Because despite the Soul Squad winning the experiment and making the Judge side with them, they now have to scramble to save the universe. Because of course the solution is to just exterminate all life and start over with amoebas.
What did we think was going to happen?
The Janets have bought the team some time by stealing Judge Gen’s world-ending clicker and hiding it between all of their voids. Michael says they have about 45 minutes to create a new ethical point system so the Judge won’t end the universe.
And who better to build an ethical point system than an ethics professor with crippling anxiety?
The question is: Can Chidi do it?
The plan is to unfreeze him from his stasis and give him back 800 reboots’ worth of memories so he has all of the knowledge he needs.
But his inability to make decisions may hinder his ability to help. Ah, what am I saying may? It’s definitely going to hinder everything. And that’s not good.
However, the one thing that may help in this iteration of Chidi is that those 800 reboots’ worth of memories will include this last year where he’ll be able to see just how much Eleanor sacrificed to save humanity.
That may be enough to inspire him into action. If he’s able to see in hindsight everything she did to steer them all on the right path and win the argument in the end, he should be able to come up with a solid base for a new point system/judgment system.
Still, it will probably take him most of the time they have left to come to that conclusion. But 45 minutes is two episodes’ worth of time.
What do you think? Will Chidi be able to spring into action or will The Good Place keep his crippling indecision from helping?
