The Good Place season 4 episode 8 preview: The final grade
The Good Place ends its final experiment and hands its unknown results to The Judge. Will the Soul Squad beat the odds? Or will something crazy take place?
For the most part, The Good Place always seems to keep us guessing. It’s been four seasons and they’ve never stopped running through insane amounts of plot in the span of three episodes that would take other television shows an entire season.
So it should come as no surprise that seven episodes into its final season, we’re through the last experiment and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.
Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “The Funeral To End All Funerals,” courtesy of NBC:
"“The group awaits the judge’s final decision on the fate of human existence.”"
There’s not much else that needs to be said, really. Last episode ended with a last-second realization and potential apology from Brent, cut short by the clock striking midnight. Will that last second of growth count?
Did any of our characters grow enough to warrant changing the point system even a little bit? How long will it take Judge Gen to make her decision? She’s usually very quick to jump to conclusions since she knows everything in the universe and really wants to get back to binge-watching something. But with this… this may take some time.
Since we’re only on the seventh episode of the season, you have to think that something will throw a monkey wrench into it. If she sides with the current point system structure, will Michael and Eleanor throw the Bad Place and their sabotage under the bus to ask for a re-do?
We can keep going around in circles, trying to guess where The Good Place will take us next, but I think at this point, we’ll just drive ourselves crazy.
