The second episode of His Dark Materials airs on HBO tonight. Here’s everything you need to know to live stream Lyra’s continuing adventure in London.
The premiere of His Dark Materials kicked off Lyra’s adventure with a bang, introducing viewers to author Philip Pullman’s complex world of Dust and dæmons.
After meeting the glamorous Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson), Lyra (Dafne Keen) took the opportunity to be her assistant and go with her to London. But in the midst of the excitement, Lyra’s best friend, Roger, disappeared, along with Billy Costa, a Gyptian boy.
As the episode closed, the Gyptians ramped up their hunt for the Gobblers — child snatchers — taking their search to London as Mrs. Coulter promised Lyra to help her find Roger.
With Lyra’s adventure just beginning, the second episode surely has a lot in store. According to HBO, the official synopsis for tonight’s episode reads:
"“Lyra starts her new life in London, determined to find Roger with Mrs Coulter’s help.”"
Fittingly, the preview for this week’s episode begins with a much better groomed Lyra with Mrs. Coulter in London, but soon reveals that Mrs. Coulter isn’t all she appears to be, hinting at the (potentially) evil turn to come.

We also get another glimpse of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Lee Scoresby, as well as the armored bears of the North. The preview also hints at the continued conflict centering in the North with the Gyptians, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy), and Mrs. Coulter all converging there.
