When the Stars Lead to You by Ronni Davis

There aren’t a ton of YA contemporary novels hitting shelves in November, but When the Stars Lead to You by Ronni Davis is one that is — and it’s one readers should keep their eyes open for. This debut arrives on November 12, and it’s the perfect book to transition from fall to winter. (It even begins at summer’s end — with a difficult farewell to the season at that.)

The novel follows Devon, a high school student heading into her senior year. Following a magical summer full of romance with a boy named Ashton, Devon gets her heart broken. And it’s going to take a lot of time and reflection to put the pieces back in place.

Still, Devon is determined to enjoy her senior year as much as possible. But when Ashton shows up on the first day of school, she’s left to wonder whether it’s worth trying again — or if she should simply focus on herself and her own goals for the future.

Touted as a “novel about passion, loss, and the power of first love,” Davis’ first book is likely to appeal to high school students who have gone through similar situations — or even to an older crowd looking to revisit the joys and woes of those high school years.
