Rest In Peace to both Lily and James Potter

James Potter died to try and save his wife and child and Lily Potter died for her son and it is important that we remember that on this, the anniversary of their death.

Every year on Halloween, we should remember James Potter and Lily Potter. Harry’s parents gave their lives to try and protect their son and, in doing so, left him with a life of not knowing them and trying to live up to their legacy. Which isn’t James or Lily’s fault. It is, instead, the fault of those around Harry but still, we often know a heroic version of these characters instead of their actual lives because we didn’t get to really know them that well.

Which is maybe the saddest part about this series. Harry Potter sees his parents through everyone else’s eyes and not his own. He’ll never get to really see them and what they represent and that’s not okay but it is the hand he was dealt. He doesn’t really have a choice.

For James and Lily Potter, they had to say goodbye to their son before they barely knew him. But they did it for his protection and they did it because they believed in taking down Voldemort and that’s exactly what Harry Potter went on to do.

Every Halloween, we’re reminded of their tragic deaths but also it is where our story began. Harry went on to do amazing things because of this one night and it is important to remember both the characters we lost but the journey that lied ahead for our hero.
