During tonight’s episode of Batwoman, Kate’s going on a date! It also looks like we’ll learn more about Alice’s connection to Kate’s stepmother.

Kate Kane is going on a date! That’s going to be a highlight of tonight’s episode of Batwoman, though it’s far from the only reason to tune in. Although the promo trailer shows Kate hitting it off with the bartender we met during last week’s episode — only a little to Luke’s dismay — it also seems to elaborate on the connection between Alice and Kate’s stepmother.

After Catherine Hamilton-Kane jumped Kate and Sophie to steal Alice’s knife, it became clear that she was hiding something from the rest of her family. Why else would she try so hard to prevent Kate from testing the object for Beth’s DNA?

If we had to guess, we’d say that Catherine doesn’t want her husband finding out his other daughter is still alive. But does that mean she had something to do with Beth’s disappearance? Either way, it looks like the cat’s coming out of the bag tonight.

Not only do Alice and Catherine have a scene together during tonight’s episode (did Alice say top secret weapon?), but there’s also a moment during the promo that shows Jacob telling his wife to “get away from” him. Whatever’s happening here, it doesn’t look good for Catherine. That’s what happens when you hide hugely important things from your significant other, I suppose.

And speaking of hiding things, it looks like Sophie might be onto Kate when it comes to her new secret identity. Sophie seems to be goading Kate into talking about Gotham’s new hero, and she doesn’t seem amused when Kate asks, “I thought they were calling her Batwoman now.” What will she do if she finds out what her ex has been doing on her free time?

This week’s episode seems to raise the tensions between characters once more, and it’ll likely raise a number of new questions as well. Hopefully, it will answer a few in the process.
