The Harry Potter series and their dedication to separating the wizarding world

When it comes to Harry Potter and the wizarding world, everything is so separated from the muggle world and why would they continue to do this even after everything with Voldemort is done?

Harry Potter grew up in the muggle world but when he went to Hogwarts, he was transported back to the time of quills and fire as electricity. So, why is it that Hogwarts continues to live in the dark ages and not be a modern school for the young witches and wizards?

Sure, it is a way of protecting the students learning there but it also doesn’t make sense that they won’t utilize basic electricity. A part of me recognizes that it is for the magic of the series but at the same time, why do wizards have candles where a bunch of kids go to school instead of using a light switch?

There’s something about Hogwarts that always seemed so fun but also so baffling to me because what do these kids do when they have downtime? Do they not get to just relax with a movie or listen to music? Is it not enough that they dedicate their time to their studies that when they have their breaks they have to also live in a time before televisions?

Maybe it’s just my own fear of being at Hogwarts and being completely separated from everything in the world during my time there. So, maybe we should look at Hogwarts as something that would be fun in theory but not really somewhere we’d want to go without our internet.
