Tonight’s episode of Batwoman shows Kate truly taking up Batman’s mantle — and dealing with plenty of interpersonal relationships in the process.
The first few episodes of Batwoman have shown Kate Kane putting on the batsuit, but she’s mostly done so to help those she cares about — whether it’s her former lover, Sophie, or her long-lost sister, Alice. But after last week’s episode, Luke pointed out that Kate’s frequent appearances are giving Gotham hope — and that’s something she’ll need to contend with going forward.
It looks like Kate is going to start taking her role as Batwoman more seriously this week, at least judging by the promo trailer for the episode. “Down Down Down” shows Luke telling Kate that he’s behind her — well, him and the rest of Gotham, that is. And we can only assume there will be more moments like this one, where Kate’s forced to accept her role as the city’s symbol of hope.

Kate’s also got a new look this week, and it’s one fans have been waiting for since the first promotional images and footage of the show appeared. Kate is rocking the pink wig with her batsuit this week, and that means she’s distinguishing herself from Batman as much as she’s taking on his role. Honestly, we’re here for it.
Outside of Kate’s struggles to become Gotham’s new caped crusader, this week also appears to focus on the residual feelings between Sophie and Kate. It looks like there will be some deliciously awkward moments for fans to squirm at — but, hey, that’s the sort of tension we all turn on the TV for.
