Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick eyed for Matrix 4 lead

Former Iron Fist leading lady Jessica Henwick is slated to make her debut in one of the most successful movie franchises in history with the upcoming Matrix 4.
While there may have been many issues with the short-lived Marvel/Netflix series Iron Fist, Jessica Henwick’s fierce portrayal of Colleen Wing was never one of them. She was a standout character in both seasons of the show, as well as in The Defenders miniseries, particularly alongside Simone Missick‘s Misty Knight (thus giving us a taste of the Daughters of the Dragon spin-off that would never be).
And fans of Henwick are in luck because it seems that the actress could be joining another major franchise in the near future: There are now reports that Henwick has been tapped to play a lead role in the upcoming Wachowski’s Matrix 4. And while nothing is official yet, we’d love to see her in action in an all-new science-fiction world — one that most of us already know pretty well.
This is just the latest in a slew of casting news for the much-anticipated sequel, following reports of Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith reprising their roles from the original series. It was also recently announced that Neil Patrick Harris and Yahya Abdul-Mateen III would be joining the franchise in undisclosed roles, although Abdul-Mateen is rumored to be playing a young Morpheus.
While Henwick’s exact character hasn’t been identified either, reports say that filmmakers were extremely impressed with the actress’s audition process, with writer/director Lana Wachowski reportedly looking for a “female-like Neo character” to lead the narrative. With her extensive martial arts training and savvy acting skills, Henwick certainly fits the bill.
The third sequel to the original Matrix was announced earlier this summer and is expected to start production in early 2020.
