Harry Potter and Hermione Granger: A relationship that should have been
Often we talk about the relationships in the Harry Potter series but there is something important about Harry and Hermione Granger that gets lost to their “friendship”.
Sure, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger are friends but there is something wonderful about looking at them as a romantic couple as well. For so long, we were told that boys would be mean to us if they like us (I.E Ron and Hermione) but what I like about shipping Harry and Hermione is that there never was that mean phase. Sure, kids made fun of Hermione but it wasn’t ever really Harry and he just liked her around.
Why I think their relationship works is because they are friends and they understand each other in a way that I don’t think Ginny or Ron understand Harry and Hermione. And sure, the argument is that Harry and Hermione prove that men and women can be friends but, then again, that doesn’t mean that Hermione and Ron aren’t still friends.
It is a great relationship to look at either way because we can see the dedication and adoration that both of these characters have for one another. Hermione worried about Harry when seemingly no one else did and Harry was always going to look out for her. So sure, if they are just friends then fine but I think it would have been better to explore a romantic side to their relationship while we could have gotten the “men and women can be friends” lesson from Harry and Ginny or Ron and Hermione.
But alas, we didn’t end up with Harry and Hermione together.
