5 things The Walking Dead fans want from the show’s NYCC panel
By Sonya Iryna
The Walking Dead fans could get some exciting news and reveals at The Walking Dead panel at NYCC this year about the new spin-off series and more.
It’s a big week for The Walking Dead fans. Fear the Walking Dead wrapped up season 5 on Sunday, and The Walking Dead season 10 premieres this coming Sunday. In addition to all of that, fans should get a lot of exciting information about The Walking Dead universe this week at New York Comic-Con. Typically, The Walking Dead has a big presence at NYCC, and this year, fans are hoping to find out a lot more about the ways in which the universe is set to expand.
Fear the Walking Dead has already been renewed for season 6, and it’s safe to assume that the flagship show isn’t going anywhere. AMC has repeatedly voiced its support for the shows that already exist in the universe, and a new show is being added this year. The new spin-off is being referred to as TWD3 by fans because no official title has been released yet, and that spin-off started filming in July in Virginia.
A teaser trailer for TWD3 featuring a couple of the show’s young stars and concept art was released over the summer but other than that there hasn’t been much information revealed about the show, except that it’s expected to debut in the spring of 2020.

That will probably change at NYCC. On Saturday morning, there is panel titled “The Walking Dead Universe,” indicating that the panel will give fans new information about The Walking Dead and also about the expanding TWD universe. There will also be a screening of The Walking Dead season 10 premiere on Saturday night.
With so many new projects set in The Walking Dead universe in development and production, fans are curious to know more not just about The Walking Dead season 10, but also about TWD3, the future of FearTWD, and of course, the trilogy of films featuring Rick Grimes. The top five things that fans would like revealed at NYCC this year include the following.
TWD3 title and trailer
Even though it’s convenient to keep calling it TWD3, it’s about time for AMC to reveal the actual name of the new spin-off series. Fans are curious to see if the title will have The Walking Dead as the primary title with a quantifying subtitle like “The Walking Dead: X” or if the show have a unique title. Considering how hard the teaser trailer hit the theme of a new world, it’s probably a safe bet that this show, focused on young protagonists in the apocalypse world, will have a title that reflects the theme of new beginnings or uncharted territory.
Fans also want to see a full trailer for TWD3. The show has been filming now for several months, so there should be some sort of footage revealed at “TWD Universe” NYCC panel.
More info about the Rick Grimes movies
At SDCC this summer, a very short teaser for the first The Walking Dead film focused on Rick Grimes was released — and there has been no new information about the films given since that time. All we really know is that the films are going to be released in theaters, and there will be three films about Rick Grimes and what happened after he was rescued by the helicopter and taken away. Fans are anxious for news about the films, and hopefully they’ll get some new information at NYCC this week.
Potential crossovers within the universe
Another thing that is on the minds of TWD fans is if and how there could be more crossovers within TWD universe. Originally, when FearTWD debuted, it was said that the two shows would never interact and the characters wouldn’t cross over. But plans changed. In season 4, Morgan Jones crossed from TWD into FearTWD, and in season 5, Dwight made the jump to FearTWD as well. Fans are wondering if Michonne will show up in the Rick Grimes films, or if Morgan will.
How much crossover will there be between the films and the series?
What will happen in FearTWD season 6?
Fear the Walking Dead ended on a cliffhanger with Morgan’s fate in the balance. The series has set up a pretty interesting storyline for season 6 that will follow the survivors inside Ginny’s group as they learn to navigate the intricacies of that group and figure out how to find each other again. But fans were so upset after the season finale, it would be nice to get some information about what is coming up for the Fear squad in season 6.
Danai Gurira’s exit from TWD
The Walking Dead season 10 looks like it’s going to be an intense and excellent journey, but it’s overshadowed by the impending exit of Danai Gurira. It would be great for fans if some information about her exit was revealed — like what episode is her last episode — so that fans can start to prepare themselves to say goodbye, one way or another, to Michonne.
