Need some help deciding what to read this month? We run down 14 of the most exciting YA books hitting shelves this October – just in time for spooky season!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! October is upon us, which means it’s time for cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, seeing that dancing pumpkin man GIF in every other tweet and lots and lots of books!

As the days get shorter, we’re all staying home more – which means you have a perfect, nature-provided opportunity to curl up with one of the dozen or so great new books that are hitting shelves this month. (Or the many that arrived in September!) And YA fans re in particular luck, because there really is something for everyone as Fall kicks into proper gear.

Our must-read list for the month has everything from a compelling dystopian story that’s reminiscent of The Handmaids Tale to a Greek myth retelling, to a magical heist drama with seriously dark undertones.

There’s also the highly anticipated new novel from the author of The Wrath and the Dawn (spoiler alert – vampires are about to become cool again) as well as a brand new magical duology from the writer who brought us The Bone Witch trilogy last year.

Here are 14 of our favorite new YA titles hitting shelves this October in the world of YA fiction and fantasy. Make yourselves comfortable – you’re probably going to be reading for a while.
