Everything about the Joker that is seemingly negative is everyone’s fault except for the Joker

It seems like the movie Joker just keeps getting bad press, and now the creatives behind it are saying that all the bad press is the fault of the public.

The more we hear about Joker, the less appealing the movie seems. Now, director Todd Phillips, is saying that “far left” criticisms are bringing down Joker. Do you know what is really bringing down the movie? The fact that it is a reimagined look at a white man who fails at a stand-up comedy career and then goes on a murderous spree isn’t exactly something many of us think we’ll enjoy in 2019.

All that being said, what’s sad about the movie is that the team behind it is reacting to backlash in a very childish manner. Passing blame and then canceling red carpet interviews at the premiere because, why? All it shows is that you’re not extremely proud of your product — otherwise, you’d let the movie speak for itself rather than cry and yell and throw a fit because people on the internet are not into your movie.

Sure, it isn’t a new idea, and the constant chatter about Joker that makes it seem like it is something revolutionary — like the Dark Knight trilogy didn’t just end in 2012 — is annoying. But before all of this drama, Joker probably would have just been a movie we all went to see and if we liked it, great.

Now, though, the childish nature of the production team and director makes it even less appealing. Phillips is saying that “outrage” is what everyone wants to be a part of right now and blames the talk about violence in this movie on the “far left” and their need to find problems with things.

Here’s the thing: The fear surrounding Joker comes from a shooting at the Aurora screening of The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012. The fear many of us have going into movie theaters comes from a shooting that happened during a Batman movie. So the conversation isn’t a personal attack against Phillips. And the minute he realizes it, the better it will be.
