Emilia Clarke’s Valentino gown

Emilia Clarke may have been robbed of both the Iron Throne and an Emmy for her performance as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones, but at least her fans can never say she doesn’t look gorgeous on camera. Her gown last night, a dark blue Valentino piece with a plunging neckline, was just about the definition of class — and we think Dany would certainly have cheered her on for the stunning red carpet look.

The top of the gown, which left much of the actress’ chest exposed, gives the piece a sexy vibe, but the bottom of it is all business. The tied waistline leads into a straight and simple bottom that strongly resembles a jumpsuit, and the color strengthens that likeness, giving the actress a very business casual appearance. Her simple hairstyle meshes well with the look, as do the drop earrings the actress wore — the singular accessory standing out against an otherwise simple but gorgeous outfit.

And even if Clarke didn’t take home an Emmy in her stunning getup last night, at least she and the rest of the Game of Thrones cast got to step onstage and say farewell to the eight-season series once more. It was wonderful to see the cast together again, and all of them were looking fierce as ever.
